2008/09 A Grade Mid Season Review
A Grade
The A`s go to the break at 5 wins 1 loss and in a solid position to capitalise on that good start. Beeper has led the team well as did Nick `The Chairman` Andrews in Beeps absence. We have introduced Domenic Croft to the A`s and before his leg injury he was performing very well, quick in the field, bowls straight and likes to get on with it when he`s batting. He has also taken some ripping catches.
Richy and Sibs have been solid at the top both having their moments, Richy`s 72no was fantastic and `Chazz Michael Michaels` has been consistent making a few 30`s we love his cover drive. Kara has stood firm at number three to sit second on the runs tally when he hits them they stay hit, Beeper also has shown some good signs in particular his last innings at Adelaide High where he blasted 70 in a flash, Roey has found touch that has eluded him in the past and his driven by thoughts of his father a past Fulham Player his 100 was very special to him, Tristan has taken indoor cricket outside and is always keen to get on the front foot ` The Falcon` tips a hundred for the boy in 2009, Nashy has bowled superbly all year, a bit more heat I`ve noticed and that perfect line and length which builds pressure, he would have the most played and misses by batsmen facing him, Luko has hit the biggest six of the year at home and was instrumental in wins against Grange and AHOS with both ways swing not to mention his efforts getting the wickets up especially during those rainy weekends, Gatesy has been solid behind the stumps and still has $50 up for grabs for the first direct hit and The Chairman has hit form since securing the lovely Nicole for the rest of his life as well as opening an academy for `Bouncer Bowling` in the wake of his thunderbolt at Grange.
Longy has made a polished 64no joining Nicko for a unbelievable last wicket partnership of 81 unbeaten and Skulls has been thereabouts but as I`ve mentioned in earlier reports just needs some luck as he is striking the ball superbly when batting. Then there is Coach `Doogie` just showing that a bit of hard work is crucial to lifting our game but at the same time allowing us to enjoy ourselves at training and in games, he is also a very good motivator but poor punter, he bet roey that there`d be five slips catches taken in one day??????? What the
Considering we are coming off a season where we were relegated after beating the top side in the last game the lads have taken a good attitude towards their cricket, we are not big heads, we are just trying to get things right in readiness for hopefully a finals campaign and I expect we will all see an even stronger A grade side in 2009. Overall `The Falcon` gives the performance to date a B, the first game cost a B plus.
The Falcon wishes everone a safe and prosperous new year and looks forward to 2nd half of the season.
