Falcons win U/15 & U/17 Premierships

Hi Everyone

Well what another amazing day for Fulham Falcons Cricket Club, our U15’s and U17’s both defeated our old arch rivals in Grange CC to win their Premierships!!!

Congratulations to all involved in particular to the two Coaches Ron Cummins of the U17’s and club legend Paul “Polly” Roberts for getting his U15’s over the line.

Just a quick summary of the U17’s, we batted 1st and set Grange approx. 230 with Matthew Fregona smashing an unbeaten 100 being the stand out batting performane. Then today we took a steady flow of wickets from the start to never really have the game in doubt. The lads had the game wrapped up just after tea winning by well over 100 runs, this enabled the U17’s to then support the U15’s in their quest for the same “holy grail”.

The U15’s game was a completely different kettle of fish, low scores and loads of pressure on everyone and I mean everyone!! After only getting 142 last week, which included Kyle Adcocks majestic unbeaten “Century” 100 ret. the lads needed early wickets and then some more! The early wickets came but Grange settled in with the two Jacobs causing much concern when all of a suden the break throughs came, one in the form of a run out and the other being bowled….that was the end of the two very dangerous “gun” Grange batters, but more drama was in store.

To Granges credit they continued to fight and their target of 143 was getting closer and closer but we continued to chip in with a wicket from time to time which kept us alive. With Grange 9 down for 135 the last two batters looked like they were going to get Grange over the line but Aaron Gallanti bowling as instructed (short of a length on off stump) clean bowled the final Grange batter to see complete auphoria break out …….it really was a remarkable win!

It really has been an amazing few weeks of outstanding junior cricket and we can all be so proud of our little clubs fantastic acheivements this season.

Once again well done to all the players involved in the 3 Premierships our U17’s, U15’s and U13 Reds but lets not forget our U13 Black Team for their excellent season too in being really unluck on just missing out on playing the Grand Final, it was so very close to being a clean sweep by the Fulham Falcons of 2008-2009.

Looking forward to seeing everyone out playing cricket again next season for the “Mighty Falcons”.
