The Falcon Gives the Presentation Night Review for season 08/09!

Read all About the Presentation Night here! The 2008/09 Fulham presentation night was held on Saturday at club sponsor The Lockleys Hotel. A great night was had by all and when the staff has to move you out, it suggests we had a long and fun night.
A crowd of over a hundred attended and showed just how far the club has come. It was great to see tables of parents, wives/girlfriends and juniors there on the night. We may need to book out the Wayville Showgrounds in a few years with the club growing at the rate it is.

Craig Ritchie MC`d the night and did a wonderful job with assistance from Dave Karanicolou who controlled the stereo. Club legend and President Polly Roberts, Coach Kristian Rawlings and another club legend Lee Harradine spoke on the night. Our senior captains talked about the year as did our junior coaches. Beeper’s report was read out by Chazz Sibley as Beeper was unable to attend. His report was a classic, a bit of humour that had the attendees in laughter.

As we went through the season it was the juniors who put the club in the headlines with a plethora of premierships, which was a massive effort. To all the people that made it possible well done.

We have some promising players at Fulham but I did hear whispers about sending Greg Adcock off to stud seeing Luke and Kyle`s talents, mind you Wendy has done a great job too, a brilliant job in fact this season.

The evening started when John Villis who got the juniors started at the club with John receiving an award of appreciation. When you look at it now it is obvious to all that he has helped start something very special at our club.
Dom Croft received the award for most promising junior and if we had a prize for the biggest feet he’d win that too, MAD Roberts(Will) won ‘most dedicated’ which was also a popular choice as I`ve seen Will bowling flat out at 5.00 and still the same at 7.00 when guys are still wanting some quality practice. It’s hard to believe he’s 15 yo.

The first Look-alike Of The Year was decided and Craig Ritchie didn’t feel like dancing as his uncanny likeness to Scissor Sister Jake Shears earned him first prize. Sibs took out second as Chazz Michael Michaels from `Blades Of Glory and if you’ve ever see that movie you’ll think it is like watching a Sibs home movie, Nicko came third with his separated at birth resemblance all be it 30 years apart with Richie Cunningham from Happy Days. The look-alikes was a tough award to win seeing as pre-count favourite, Pethers Col`n Carpenter didn’t even run a place. Will MAD Roberts also would`ve polled better if the vote was held around Royal Show time when all the showbags are filled with the Mad Magazine that made him famous. Considering we found nearly 30 Look-alikes, with most showing a genuine resemblance it was a great effort and we are glad to provide some laughs and new nicknames that `The Falcon` reckons will stick although “Owl” Tilbrook, Rob Canning and “Sloth” Roberts back to differ.

We then went on to the senior awards, Luko was always the first thanked, his work enabled us all to play on the hallow turf at Collins Reserve not forgetting other things he does too, Kristian spoke as well as he coaches, with genuine passion which had a few of us keen for a hit this weekend. Chook was a run away winner of the new award ` Knob of the year` which like he always does he had a laugh about and was a good sport. There is also talk of a Fulham calendar coming out so `The Falcon` is looking forward to that just hope I’m not in it!!

PJ Scott took out the C Grade batting, Peter Hutton the bowling and Moose Mrowka the player’s player award. For the B Grade it was Jeff Holloway winning the batting whilst battling injury making it an even better performance and Dave Butler the bowling for the fifth time in six seasons. Once again Killa spoke with great enthusiasm for his team whom he led very well, he along with Butsy and Holla also came in for some thanks when Nashy collected his trophy, those guys helped him get back to bowling well after a few setbacks a season or two ago.

The A grade awards went to Rohan Way for the batting and Mark Nash the bowling. Roey also won the Cricketer and Allrounder of the year to cap a good individual season, he also thanked Kristian for his guidance and credits much of his form to the training program and closeness of the group and club for that matter. The Spirit of Fulham Award went to Craig Ritchie, his mannerism and work around the club are valuable to us and his efforts on the field were also very good he was presented the award by Lee Harradine.

Jet Connor took out the best junior award, his stats are Bradman like definitely a genuine all rounder of the future and a very popular winner of the award.

As usual at any Fulham gathering we all had a good time, several laughs were had and now we just have to wait for next season. The website will have some updates throughout the off season so make sure you log on to the site regularly to see what’s happening.
