See the results of a massive week in Fulham CC’s history!

A record breaking weekend for our A grade, Big win to the B`s an outright victory for the C`s whilst the One Dayers came up short for the nearly flawless weekend.

A Grade vs Flinders Uni. Fulham 446 (Karanicolou 211, Hortop 38, Glover 54, Ritchie 37, Luko 54) def Flinders Uni 7/219

It had seemed like an eternity since we had last played a two day game of cricket and the A`s wasted no time getting into gear at home versus Flinders Uni. The opposition elected to bat and we had them on the ropes from the outset with our quick bowlers doing the job. At one stage Flinders Uni were 4/31 then 5/67 before a middle order fightback meant our early work was undone somewhat. At the end of the play to see the scoreboard showing them at 8/219, the lads felt a bit angry in the rooms after day one. Bowling honours to the big Lithuanian Rob Lukosius with 3/44 whilst Drewsal Parsons, Mark` Colossimo` Nash and Will `MAD` Roberts also had tidy figures, we used 9 bowlers in total, so Darren` Human Twister Mat` Hortop definitely threw the ball around trying to get those elusive wickets. Our batting has been solid and without getting too carried away the lads were confident of chasing the runs down on day 2.
When the day started, I don’t think anyone could’ve predicted what was about to unfold, to cut to the chase we made a club record first innings score of 446 surpassing I believe 424 which was the previous record. We fell 5 balls short of our allotted overs but on this occasion Beeper was happy. Dave `Kara` Karanicolou arguably the clubs best batsmen, well now that Nicko is in Victoria he`s right up there, made an incredible 211 also a club record score. He belted the bowling but also played a lot of beautiful shots on his way to a memorable innings. Kara had put the hard work in during the off season and his concentration and fitness were contributing factors to a great innings. Other notable efforts with the bat were Darren Hortop with 38 before a run out which would’ve been suited to some Benny Hill music occurred, Tristan `Trip` Glover with his usual entertainment , this time it yielded 54, Craig `MC` Ritchie a handy 37 and Luko hammered the nails in with a brisk 54, completed before `The Falcon` could even finish a can of rum, yeah I`m a talented bird.
Great effort by the lads to make such a huge score, but it was Kara`s day a sensational effort that may never be seen again. The A`s go to the mid season break on top of the wazza but the lads are determined to leave no stone unturned as we come up to the second half of the season and then the real stuff.

Sibs` B Grade had one of their strongest teams on paper all season and this was reflected in the result. Winning the toss and batting against Para Hills, we got off to a solid start with young opener Matthew `Froggy `Fregona and Jarrod `Jacko` Jackson setting some pretty solid foundations. Jacko made a handy 65 but the star of the show was Froggy, he had a Sulieman Benn/Brad Haddin like exchange with one of their players ( note he wasn’t the instigator here) and didn’t let that phase him as he punished the bowlers on his way to a huge 157. Froggy made up half of our score and with a few smaller contributions along the way we ended up with an impressive 6/327.Froggy is starting to become a prolific hundred maker as he has a few in the bank in juniors to go with his first senior ton.
Brett` Moose,Ken McGregor` Mrowka got the ball rolling with an early breakthrough and continued in that fashion to end up with 4/28 off 16 overs, Froggy kept up his form this time with the ball taking 3/8 and another good youngster Kyle Adcock took 2/14. A comfortable victory in the end with Para Hills only making 143, we went into bat and Sibs and Des Odwyer had a bit of batting practice getting us to 0/53 by stumps.
Much needed win, the B2 competition is very tight and we play Reynella who are in the top four next week, with a few players to come back we should see a strong B grade team for the remainder of the season, good job on the weekend fellas.

It was the weekend for hundreds and I don’t think it came as a shock to see Jeff Holloway notch one up, he`s been in super form all year and this time he got the rewards.
Batting first Ken `Killer` Kilpatrick and Holla put on 105 to really set up a chance to score big in our innings, Killa made 51 whilst Holla went on to score 113. Youngsters Josh Schwarz with 31 and Simon Cantley 21 also played well. We finished the day on 7/306 and had given Modbury a tough task if they were to take the points on our home ground.
Going into bowl the lads were pumped, there was steam coming out of their ears, they didn’t think for a minute that the game was over they wanted blood. Sam `Yahoo Serious` Johnson has been taking a lot of wickets this season and he was too good on Saturday, he moves the ball a bit and is pretty accurate and finished with the great figures of 6/13 off 11 overs, Killer took a lazy 3/5 off 6 to help us bowl them out in 30 overs for 54. We sent them straight back in and sometimes isn’t easy getting another 10 wickets straight away , Modbury played their shots and we managed to bowl them out for 103 off 22 overs with still a bit of time left in the day, Sam Johnson picked up another 3 to get 9 for the match, Luke Adcock had them in a spin with 3/23 and we pulled off a couple of run outs too, also a mention to Simon Cantley who was impressive behind the stumps.
A very handy outright win for Killer`s men who are now right up amongst the top teams, they played solidly in every area and look a strong chance of playing finals if they can maintain their form, when I look at the teamsheet I also see a team where virtually everyone is a regular at training, perhaps that is paying off when it comes to game day.Good job in getting our second outright in this grade.

The One Dayers headed to Mitchell Oval to play Grange, one of the more enjoyable games to play in with most the players knowing each other pretty well but unfortunately we never got out of first gear. Batting first on a pitch that had a little in it early and a spongey outfield we struggled to be all out for 139, Roey made 37, 20 that came in one over and managed to get dropped three times before reaching 10, Brian `Hoon` Haller made 29 with a few big hits along the way, Dave `Kenners` Kennewell` also got in the 20`s, we had a few chairs lined up for the duck achievers and a couple of players were candidates for those chairs.
139 was an average score and with Damien `Omo` O` Mahoney getting a couple of early wickets we were on the way but things just didn’t happen, we fielded okay but they batted too well and we ended up losing a gme which put us back in the ruck on the ladder, the only real positive out of the game was that James` Finners` Finnermore didn’t get impaled on a tree near the boundary as he backed back for a catch which was one of several that sailed over the fence during their innings. Some very important games ahead as we sit a little bit off the pace, the team is solid enough to lift a gear when we resume next year.

Merry Xmas and all the best to you and your families
