Fulham CC has been represented by Matthew Fregona & Kyle Adcock in the SAMCA Under 18 Team. Here are the match reports from their first few games.

The SAMCA Under 18 Team has played fantastic cricket today to register 2 wins from their 2 opening games on Day 1 of the Gatorade National 20/20 Competition.

Game 1:

Firstly, at Snape Oval in Maroubra, the SAMCA side won the toss and sent the A.C.T. into bat, who were soon in trouble, losing regular wickets to be dismissed for 77 runs. All players were very sharp, with some brilliant runouts from Chris Moran and James Elbourne. Moran also took 3/10, Elbourne 1/8, Nick Greening 1/7 and Kyle Adcock wrapped up the A.C.T. innings with 3/14.

The SAMCA Batsmen then chased the total down in 15 overs, for the loss of 6 wickets for 78 runs as the wicket started to keep low. Alex Wood held the innings together with a well compiled and intelligent knock of 32 runs from 27 deliveries, while he was well supported by Matt Benger who made 15 runs from 17 balls.

Game 2:

Moving to the David Phillips Sports Ground in Daceyville, SAMCA lost the toss and N.S.W. elected to bat. Very tight SAMCA fielding and bowling restricted the N.S.W. team in the early overs, who then lost regular wickets as they tried to smash quick runs in the final overs, to be 7/102 after their alloted overs. Nick Greening made the breakthrough and finished with 3/21, and then Chris Moran took a vital wicket, ending with 1/28 from his spell, while Matt Benger was in the action again taking 2 wickets for 11, and another runout highlighted the excellent standard of fielding on display.

The SAMCA side was in early trouble losing 2 quick wickets in the first overs and the pressure was on the batsmen, but skipper David Pregarc steadied the ship with 12 runs and was well supported by Ben Lane, then Matt Fregona batted with maturity and some fine shots for his 24 runs, and was assisted by Matt Benger who made a solid 10. Some good early bowling was let down by N.S.W.’s extras which eventually totalled some 34 runs, and after 14 overs the SAMCA team took the points.
